Positive Discipline at Woodlands Elementary

Woodlands Elementary is wild about Positive Behavior Support! Our teachers have worked collaboratively to create grade level discipline plans to provide consistency in policies and procedures throughout the grade level. In addition, the grade levels have come together with administration and the support staff to promote our school-wide positive behavior support plan. We have developed PAWS awards that students can earn for demonstrating the following positive behaviors:

Play Fair

Always Make Someone's Day

Winning Attitude

Stay in the Moment

The PAWS awards have two parts:

1) The students can put their name and their teacher 's name on the bottom of the award and place it in their grade level box in the cafeteria for a chance to win the weekly PAWS Award Lunch with the Principal and Assistant Principal. On Mondays the PAWS Lunch winners are announced on the morning news and the winning students are invited to participate in a delicious lunch provided by our wonderful Partners in Excellence -Papa Johns, Specialty Pizza & Jason's Deli - on Fridays.

2) The students save the top of the PAWS awards. Once a month they can come to "Woody 's Den"to purchase charms for their PAWS necklaces and key chains. Woody 's Den is usually open before school in the rotunda for a couple of days during the last week of the month- the exact dates will be announced each month.

Also, teachers have incorporated their own classroom award system where students can trade in their PAWS awards to earn classroom incentives. Woodlands students strive to do their best everyday so that they can be recognized for their PAWSitive behaviors!

We also take bullying very seriously here at Woodlands! Our School Resource Deputy, Deputy Adamson, has been making his rounds to every classroom K-5 to talk about being kind and bullying prevention. We are proud of our Woodlands students. They are Champions for Life!

Go Wildcats!
